[ARCHIVED] Prevent Child Abuse - Donate to Pinwheels for Prevention

Pinwheel

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Village of Romeoville is joining thousands of other communities and organizations across our nation who are engaging in activities to raise awareness and promote the prevention of child abuse. Beginning in April, the Village will be supporting the campaign by displaying pinwheels on the Village Hall/Police Department’s front lawn. The Village Hall and the Police Department will have a limited number of pinwheels for citizens who make a donation, which can then be added to those displayed on the front lawn.

Child abuse is one of the greatest tragedies of our times, but it doesn’t have to be. We can prevent it by building communities that are committed to families and to the support and services they need to raise strong, healthy, and successful children. That begins with awareness.

As part of the ongoing campaign, the Village of Romeoville is pleased to promote the national pinwheel symbol of prevention. The pinwheel was chosen for its positive association with children and its happy images of childhood. It represents our hope that every child will be raised in a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment.
