A ribbon cutting was held for the rejuvenated Century Park in mid June, and now a month later, planning work is beginning on the future renovation of Wesglen Park. Located at 120 S. Wesglen Pkwy., the playground was constructed in 2000 and gets heavy use due to its proximity to Hermansen School. It is near the end of its useful life. At last night’s Village Board Meeting, the board approved a proposal for the conceptual and schematic design phase to move forward.
“We are tremendously proud of our recreational offerings in Romeoville, not only in the variety of parks and facilities, but also in keeping our playgrounds up to date,” said Mayor John Noak. “Wesglen Park continues that thread of renewal to ensure our residents have a great time being active.”
A construction timeline for the project will be available at a later date, but things are in motion. Recently completed park upgrades include Century Park, Lake Strini, and Meadowalk Park.
