Join us for the third in a series of our "Artist Spotlight" programs that the library is hosting in partnership with Romeoville Art Society! Join us as we celebrate International Sculpture Day (4/29), and Mental Health Awareness Month in May. At this visual presentation and talk, artist Steve Kost will discuss metal sculpting and the healing power of art. Steve, a US Veteran, was recently awarded a gold metal for his metal sculpture entries in The National Veterans Creative Arts Competition. As an artist, US Veteran, and public speaker, Steve has engaged with widespread audiences far and near. He has presented at the Library of Congress as well as locally. His art is currently on exhibit at our Romeoville Branch library and at Kelvin Grove Middle School in Lockport! Spring wildflowers are here! Come out to O’Hara Woods Preserve to see what is blooming. O’Hara Woods is known for its blanket of bluebells, but we’ll also search for mayapple, toothwort, Jack-in-the-pulpit and more. Learn some tips and tricks to ID different flowers. Please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. Parking is available on Grand Boulevard off Romeo Road in Romeoville. Meet-up directions will be sent to participants upon registration.Be prepared to hike 2 miles over uneven natural terrain and trails.
