White Oak Library presents Books & Beer : "Furious Hours" by Casey Cep

Join us at the Romeoville Branch Library on the second Tuesday evening of each month for a lively book discussion, beer/wine and other beverages and snacks. This month's book is Furious Hours: Murder, Fraud, and the Last Trial of Harper Lee by Casey Cep. The stunning story of an Alabama serial killer and the true-crime book that Harper Lee worked on obsessively in the years after To Kill a Mockingbird. Now Casey Cep brings this nearly inconceivable story to life, from the shocking murders to the courtroom drama to the racial politics of the Deep South. This book will be available one month prior to the discussion and can be picked up at the Romeoville Branch Library's Adult Services Desk and will be due back one week after the book club date.

We plan to continue removing brush from the woodland edge to open the view and improve conditions for our native plants. We would love to see you out there! No prior experience is required. The address to O'Hara Woods is 524 Belmont Dr., Romeoville, and we will be meeting in the parking lot off of Beverly J Griffin Dr. (to the southwest of Lake Strini). If you plan to attend, please bring a water bottle, a pair of work gloves (we will have extra), and dress for the weather. Loppers and all other equipment will be provided. Have you ever wondered what’s going on in our 18th-century Traders Cabin or wanted to peek inside the Native American longhouse above the pollinator garden? This is your chance to explore all the buildings at Isle a la Cache Museum and learn about the French fur traders and Potawatomi who once called this area home. Drop in for self-guided exploration during normal operating hours. No registration required.

We are looking forward to seeing all of the families and smiling faces. Join us for a warm fun & FREE trick-or-treat event! Located throughout our facility there will be multiple stations welcoming costumed children 12 & under to say “trick-or-treat” in exchange for a handful of candy and the occasional toy! Bring your costume & a candy bag! Scene75 is an indoor facility so no need to worry for rain or cold weather spoiling the fun! Game cards will be available for purchase if you want to play any of our 150+ arcade games or ride any of our world-class attractions like go-karts laser tag mini-golf and more! Will County and Lewis University have partnered to offer the 7th annual Will County collection of pumpkins for recycling. From 9am to Noon on Saturday, Nov. 5, students, parents, and residents are encouraged to bring their pumpkins and gourds! Lewis Physics Club will be operating Catapults! The Farm Bureau and Unv of IL Ext office will be offering composting info and Document Destruction service will also be offered. Electronics recycling will also be offered.
