[ARCHIVED] Aerial Herbicide Applications Start September 13

Helicopter

Village of Romeoville - Common Reed (Phragmites australis) Control

Between September 13th and 16th, aerial herbicide applications will be conducted via helicopter to treat common reed.  Helicopter use for weed control is ideal for hard-to-reach weed populations, where targeted treatment is required.  Treatments will take place at three locations; Lily Cache Greenway (East and West), Discovery Park, and Boucher Prairie. Aerial applications will take one to two days to complete.  Those sections too close to urbanization will not be treated by aerial methods.  An ATV will be used to treat areas not accessible with a helicopter.  Ground applications using an ATV will be conducted over the next month.

Below are maps for each treatment location.  Common reed populations are shaded in purple and labeled numerically. Not all populations will be treated this year, so see the bulleted areas listed under each Unit below.
