The latest Village Board Meeting was filled with growth and development: two concept plans and one final plan for business projects were presented.
The first concept plan on the docket was for Towneplace Suites, a four story, 102 room hotel by Marriott. The proposal calls for it to be built at 1280 Windham Parkway in the Windham Lakes Business Park. This lot is one of the final remaining in the business park. Plans are estimated to be approved by the end of the year with construction starting spring of 2023.
The next concept plan was for an expansion of the current Viga Design Studio located at 368 O’Hare. Viga creates and installs custom graphics for commercial fleets and is seeking a 7,275 square foot addition. This would be the third time the company has needed more space since arriving in Romeoville.
In addition to the concept plans, a final development plan for Jimmy John’s at 310 Independence Boulevard was approved. The 1,200 square foot stand-alone store will be on the vacant lot south of Burger King and have a drive-through. Construction should start this summer with a fall opening.
“We are excited to see more businesses coming to Romeoville,” said Mayor Noak. “Those projects continue to build on what has already been a successful year.”
Last week, it was announced that Romeoville was selected as a finalist for Municipality of the Year by RE Journal. The Village anticipates additional development announcements in the coming months. A list of current projects is available on the Village’s website at romeoville.org.
