The Ovation Center, located at 349 S. Weber Road in Romeoville is a partnership between the Village of Romeoville and Senior Services of Will County. The Village was looking to engage the community and offered the old Target building as an option for a one-of-a-kind community based senior center. The partnership, which began in 2019, has navigated COVID and construction delays, and is ready to move forward.
The Ovation Center will boast partnerships such as Silver Cross, United Way of Will County, Insurance Services, a behavioral health provider, massage therapy practice and many more. Partnerships can be visited by taking a stroll along the walking track that encircles the center of the building, something that area seniors specifically requested. The ballroom will have the honor of hosting community events, weddings, and gatherings. The Ovation Center is slated to open late in 2022.
“This project is very important to all of us here at Senior Services of Will County and we are privileged to have a wonderful partner that made it possible in the Village of Romeoville. This project is an expansion of our Joliet facility located at 251 N. Center Street where you can enjoy classes and receive care coordination services right now,” said CEO Brianne Hetman.
The 127,000 square foot highly-accessible single-level facility will feature on-site medical screenings and other healthcare services, physical therapy, behavioral therapy, a café, a walking track, a ballroom, club rooms ranging in size from 110-280 people, classes ranging from basic IT to low impact dance to standard home repair and beyond, a wood-working shop where seniors will be able to work on their own projects, a micro food pantry for the community, a lounge to visit with family & friends, and more.
A senior will be able to spend their entire day at the Ovation Center, which will be open for extended hours. There will be a focus on intergenerational employment that will allow seniors to work in the facility, and local students, particularly culinary students, to make use of the full-service kitchen and the café to hone their skills and gain valuable experience.
Senior Services of Will County estimates the Ovation Center project to be completed later this year.
