[ARCHIVED] Celebrate Independence Day Safely: Leave Fireworks to the Pros

Fireworks.jpg

The 4th of July is a day to celebrate America’s independence, a fun day to gather with friends and family for backyard barbecues, parades and fireworks displays. The Village of Romeoville encourages you to enjoy this holiday, but at the same time be safe. It is important to remember that fireworks are dangerous and every year many people suffer severe injuries. We encourage you to leave fireworks to the pros. To help keep our residents safe we maintain a very strict enforcement policy in regards to illegal fireworks. We would like to remind residents that the consumer possession of fireworks is prohibited without training and a permit from the State Fire Marshall and the Village of Romeoville. Even with a permit, firecrackers, bottle rockets, sky rockets and roman candles are prohibited. As the possession of fireworks without a permit is illegal, any person found to be in possession will be charged accordingly.

Again, we encourage you to enjoy the holiday, have fun, be safe and leave the fireworks to the professionals. Celebrate the holiday safely by joining us at the Village’s Independence Day Celebration on Wednesday, July 3rd. Activities, food and live bands at Deer Crossing Park, 1050 W. Romeo Rd. from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. and Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at Village Park, 900 W. Romeo Rd. Also join us for two fireworks displays at RomeoFest on Friday, August 2nd and Sunday, August 4th, both shows at 9:30 p.m. at Village Park.
