The $164 million Village budget for 2020-21 was approved at tonight’s Village Board meeting. The balanced budget features another property tax rate decrease (the Village’s 5th in a row), which brings the rate to its lowest since 2011. No new taxes or fees were proposed. The Village has also developed a COVID-19 Financial Impact plan.  

Even during these uncertain times, because of the strong fiscal base that has been created over the last 10 years, the Village will be able to move forward with a number of capital projects including local road improvements, park enhancements and expansion, and the multi-year water and sewer capital project plan. Another highlight for the upcoming year is the partnership with Will County Senior Services for the redevelopment of the Target building into a new Senior Service Center. The budget also accounts for the $600,000 rebate program that was recently announced. Rebates will go out with the June water bills.

“This year’s budget will bring about some exciting projects to Romeoville,” said Mayor John Noak. “As we continue to add new parks and facilities, it is important that we keep the budget balanced and continue to be fiscally responsible to our tax payers.”
