Romeoville Mayor John Noak’s 11th State of the Village Address detailed the village’s strong financial standing. Romeoville has a fund balance of nearly $29 million (as of fiscal year 2017-18) and received a fifth consecutive award for financial reporting. The village was able to provide a water bill rebate for its residents for the eighth year in a row and residents today are paying $100 less toward the village portion of their property taxes than they were in 2008, if adjusted for inflation. Additionally, retail sales for fiscal year 2017-18 were $663 million, which is a $90 million increase from the previous year.

New programs were also outlined, including the Veteran and Service Member Banner Program, the expansion of the Romeoville Reinvestment Program, and the At Your Door Program. The banners will thank Romeoville veterans and active service members and be displayed along Grand Ave. The Romeoville Reinvestment Program was expanded to include assistance for older homes that needed complete reconstruction. Finally, the brand new “At Your Door Program” will collect electronics and hazardous household waste like paint directly from residents’ homes. 

“Romeoville’s finances continue to be strong, allowing us to provide many new programs for our residents despite the ongoing challenges at the state and federal levels,” said Mayor Noak.
