[ARCHIVED] Romeoville Metra Parking Expansion Opens January 1

Metra Lot

The Romeoville Metra Station opened in February of 2018. Just under a year later, a second parking lot is opening, providing commuters with another 160 spaces in which to park. The station will now have a total of 283 parking spaces.

“The demand for parking at the station has been overwhelming,” stated Mayor John Noak. “This new lot should go a long way to ensure everyone who wants to ride the Metra from Romeoville will be accommodated. I’d like to thank Metra representatives, Congressman Lipinski, State Senators McGuire and Bertino-Tarrant, and State Representatives Connor and Manley for their continued support.”

“As a strong advocate for public transit, it’s great to see the new Romeoville station being utilized by so many people,” said Congressman Dan Lipinski. “The expansion of the parking lot less than a year after the station opened is a significant milestone and a testament to the work put in by the Village of Romeoville and Metra. I’m grateful I’ve been able to help expand service on Metra’s Heritage Corridor line and will continue to work with everyone to help provide better Metra service to residents of the region.”

The new lot will be for daily parking while the existing lot will be all permit parking. As of this publishing, all 92 parking permits have been spoken for, but you can get your name on the waiting list by going to romeoville.org and clicking on the “Transportation” button on the left side of the page.
