Shred Documents & Catapult Jack-O-Lanterns

Saturday, November 3, 2018, 9 a.m.- Noon
Lewis University, 1 University Parkway, Parking Lot “W” South of the main entrance.

Will County and Lewis University have partnered to offer the annual Will County collection of pumpkins for recycling. Students, parents, and residents are encouraged to pitch their pumpkins and gourds to see whose pumpkin goes the furthest!! Staff from the County will be joined by the Farm Bureau and Univ of IL Ext office to measure distance and offer prizes! Physics students will be offering a catapult option to add some thrills. Document Destruction will also be offered. Naked Pumpkins Only! No candles, bags or boxes! Limit of five pumpkins per person. 

Isle a la Cache Museum presents "Living History Demonstration" 
Sunday, November 4, 2018, Noon to 3:00 p.m.
Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Rd.

Free, all ages. Experience history up close and personal. On these Sundays you may find cooks, seamstresses, voyageurs, soldiers or craftsmen sharing their talents. The Isle a la Cache Brigade is a volunteer group of re-enactors presenting a sample of the 18th-century fur trading life. No registration is required for this event.

White Oak Library presents "Holiday Recipe Swap"

Isle a la Cache Museum presents "Turtle Time"

Join a naturalist who will teach you all about turtles and their habitats. Learn what species of turtles live in Illinois and their important role in history. Check out the 300-gallon turtle aquarium at Isle a la Cache Museum as we get up close and personal with turtles. Fee: Free! Age: Ages 16 or older. Archeologist and author Bill Iseminger joins us from Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site. This program will uncover the cultural traditions as well as the rise and demise of Cahokia, the largest prehistoric settlement north of Mexico. We’ll discuss the many significant site features and the results of archaeological research at this World Heritage site. The Will County Sheriff’s TRIAD for Seniors has partnered with the local police, library, & parks serving Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville to bring you a Health, Technology, & Safety Event. A variety of vendors and organizations relating to the needs of seniors will provide handouts, programs, and assistance on a variety of topics – health, technology, safety, and scams. Enjoy light refreshment. Walk away with giveaways.

Please place your food donation in plastic bags outside your front door by 11:00 a.m. Pick-up is from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Or feel free to bring it to the drop off at St. Andrew the Apostle on the Corner of Kingston and Arlington in Romeoville. If you would like to donate items, but won't be home that day, you may drop it off at the following locations from 11/10-11/16:

White Oak Library presents "Dating Over 50: Have Fun - Be Safe"

Make room on your wall for your very own masterpiece! Professional artist Crystal Simpelo, founder of Crystal’s Canvas, will show you how to make “art from the heart,” using Isle a la Cache as your muse. Canvases and paints will be provided.This program is perfect for beginners with step-by-step instructions. Give yourself a break, get creative and come celebrate the weekend with others. To get those creative juices flowing, participants are invited to bring their own wine to sip during the program.
