Romeoville Swears in Two New Police Officers

New Police Officers

At Wednesday night’s Village Board Meeting, two new police officers were sworn in to serve and protect the people of Romeoville: Marisol Diaz and Rebecca Journey.

“Both Chief Turvey and myself take pride in seeing new officers join the Romeoville Police Department,” said Mayor John Noak. “It’s great to see people who want to serve their community and we welcome them with open arms.”

Officer Diaz attended Morton West High School in Berwyn and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Lewis University. She’s a first generation college graduate and is the first and only member of her family to be in law enforcement.

Officer Journey graduated from Bolingbrook High School and then attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminology/Criminal Justice and Psychology. She is the first police officer in her family since her great uncle, who was an Illinois State Trooper.
