Rendezvous was a time when fur traders met to celebrate a successful season.
Join us as we update the 18th-century rendezvous for today’s families. Experience the connection between the past and present with activities, games and crafts. Feel what it’s like to pull back a bow and shoot an arrow. Try to start a fire with nothing but wood. See live birds of prey and celebrate historic farms with a petting zoo. When you’ve had your fill of fun outdoors, relax in the air conditioned bliss of the museum while exploring our new exhibits. Food and gifts will be available for purchase. No registration is required for this program.

Join us every Wednesday of the month for different activities or demonstrations that focus on natural or cultural history. We’ll do some nature myth busting, use natural items for 3-D art and create a nature activity book. The possibilities and fun are as great as your ability to discover. No registration is required for this program. Depending on topic and weather, programs may be held indoors or outside. Drop in anytime between the program hours of 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Romeoville Art Society presents "Art Outside the Box," a Cigar Box Decoupage 2-session Workshop

Cigar boxes are perfect for re-purposing to create one-of-a-kind treasure or keepsake boxes, purses, dioramas, button boxes, or storage for all the artists’ trading cards we’ll make in July! In this two-day workshop, we’ll teach you how to decoupage a cigar box and make it your own. We’ll provide the cigar boxes, Mod Podge and Liquitex gel medium and an assortment of charms and doodads for embellishing. You provide the inspiration, papers and decorative items for your project. Join an experienced naturalist who will teach you what you need to know to prepare yourself for any disaster, whether it's a natural catastrophe or a zombie apocalypse. With our hands-on program, teens will learn and practice skills like primitive fire-starting, safe water collection, shelter building, emergency signaling, using primitive tools and more.
