Starting in 2023, the Village of Romeoville will take over the duties of the Mosquito Abatement District. Presently, the Mosquito Abatement District is a separate taxing body. Thanks to the work of Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and Village of Romeoville officials, a taxing body will be eliminated and abatement services will continue for those who were in the district and be expanded to the entire community.

“We are always looking for opportunities to consolidate government bodies,” said Mayor John Noak. “The Village is making a commitment to take over this service so we can provide it to the entire community more effectively.”

The Mosquito Abatement District was established in 1967 and the all volunteer board was appointed by the Will County Executive. The District served most neighborhoods north of Taylor Road. The Village would like to thank all the board members for their hard work these past 55 years.

“I appreciate working with Romeoville on this consolidation effort,” said Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant. “This is a simple step that makes local services more efficient for residents.”

Mosquito abatement treatments occur constantly throughout the mosquito season, which runs from May 15-October 15.
