Plans for a new 6,825 square foot retail building with a drive-thru at one end were reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Committee this week. The site, 639 N. Independence, was a shuttered used car dealership, and is located just south of Greenwood Avenue.
“We are excited to continue the redevelopment of the Route 53 corridor,” said Mayor John Noak. “This project will allow for five new restaurants or retailers to set up shop on the east side of Romeoville.”
Once the approval process is complete, site work would start this summer or fall for a spring of 2023 opening. The developer will be working on the occupants for the future store fronts and will be announced once finalized.
