The shopping center that once housed Dominick’s at 135th Street and Weber Road in Romeoville is under new ownership. The new investment group has taken advantage of the benefits of the enhanced Weber Road interchange and has already been aggressively pursuing tenants for the former grocery site as well as other storefronts in the shopping center.
The site includes the former Dominick’s space and most of the rest of the shopping center. It also includes the corner outlet, smaller shopping center and bank lot.
The Village has already had multiple positive meetings with potential businesses, making for an exciting rejuvenation of this corridor.
“This is one of the larger retail developments within the community and we are excited to work with this new group that is better positioned to redevelop the site,” said Mayor John Noak.
The Village has been in discussions with the developer to express the need for a potential grocery store or other preferred tenants.
This property has had challenges with finding tenants during the Weber Road construction as well as complications due to previous lease agreements that have now expired. This new group will be able to give this center the attention it deserves. Announcements about future tenants and redeveloped of the site are anticipated over the next several months.
