Memorial Day          
Come out and honor Memorial Day with the Village of Romeoville on Monday, May 26, 2008.  The ceremony will be at Veteran’s Memorial Garden and will begin at 10:00am.  For more information call the Recreation Department at (815) 886-6222.

June 2008
Neighborhood Park Watch
A Neighborhood Park Watch will be held on June 3, 2008.  Entertainment starts at 6:00pm and will include a disc jockey, clowns, face painting, games and more!  Refreshments will be provided.  Park location will be announced closer to the event date.  For more information call the Recreation Center at (815) 886-6222.

Downtown Redevelopment Car Show
The Car Show will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2008 from 9:00am to 4:00pm in the downtown Romeoville area, corner of Route 53/Normantown Rd. and Townhall Dr.  Showcase Classics will be presenting the car show showcasing classic, custom, antique, and muscle cars.  Concessions are available and entertainment includes Big Wheel and Matchbox Derby races, an inflatable moon jump and slide, and music.  For information on registering a car please call Showcase Classic at 1-866-4RSHOWS or for more information about enjoying this special event with your family call the Recreation Center at (815) 886-6222.

Buccaneers’ Bash
Ahoy, me haarrty!  Do you have a little pirate at home?  Someone who just can’t get enough of hidden treasures and the high seas?  If so, then this event will satisfy his or her swashbuckling ways.  Buccaneers’ Bash will be held on Friday, June 27, 2008 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm at Volunteer Park, 1100 W. Murphy Dr.  Entertainment includes “How I Became a Pirate” performance by emerald City Theater Company at 6:30pm and a pirate variety show at 7:45pm.  Other activities include games, face painting, balloon twisting, and a stilt walker.  Be sure to jump aboard Captain Hook’s ship and watch out for the alligator that bit Hook’s hand off!  All ages are welcome!  Stay after the event for the Movie under the Stars – Peter Pan will begin at 8:45pm or dusk.

Movie under the Stars
Enjoy a fun family movie night under the stars! Peter Pan (2003, PG, 113 minutes) will be showing on Friday, June 27, 2008 after Buccaneers’ Bash at Volunteer Park. Movie will begin around 8:45pm or dusk. Bring your blanket and enjoy a movie on a 25-foot screen at one of the Romeoville Recreation Department’s outdoor community parks. Admission is free and vendors will be selling food and beverages. In conjunction with Buccaneers’ Bash. Movie rain date is Sunday, June 29th.

July 2008
Fourth of July Fireworks
Celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks in Romeoville!  Fireworks show will be held on Friday, July 4th beginning at 9:30pm at Village Park, 900 W. Romeo Road.  Music, Party Hoppers Moon Jump, and concessions will be available starting at 7:30pm.  For more information call the Recreation Center at (815) 886-6222.

August 2008
RomeoFest
Join the Village of Romeoville for RomeoFest – five days of carnival rides, games, entertainment, live music, food, and fun!  RomeoFest 2008 will be held on the Recreation Department’s grounds (Village Park, 900 W. Romeo Rd.) Wednesday, August 6th through Sunday, August 10th.  Wednesday through Friday the fest opens at 5:00 pm; Saturday and Sunday activities begin at 12:00 pm.  Activities include live music from various bands, tennis tournament, baggo tournament, karaoke, and children’s activities, entertainment and games. Also, sign up your team for the Competitive or Recreational Adult Softball Tournament!  Softball registration information will be available in the summer 2008 brochure.  Local food vendors will also be selling food, and the Beverage Garden will be open daily.  There will be two fireworks shows during the fest, one on Friday night and one on Sunday night.  Both shows begin at 9:15 pm at Village Park.  For more information on RomeoFest, contact the Romeoville Recreation Department at (815) 886-6222.  A full schedule of events will be available closer to the event.

Founder’s Day Parade
The Village of Romeoville’s Annual Founder’s Day Parade will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 2:00 pm.  For more information on parade route, location, or participating in the parade, call the Recreation Department at (815) 886-6222.

October 2008
Halloween Fest
Join the Recreation Department and the Romeoville Chamber of Commerce for Halloween Fest on Saturday, October 25th from 11:00am to 2:00pm.  More information including costume contests, activities, performances, and trick-or-treating will be made available closer to the event.  For more information call the Recreation Department at (815) 886-6222.

November 2008
Veterans’ Day
Honor Veterans on Veterans’ Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2008 with the Village of Romeoville at Veteran’s Memorial Garden at 10:00am.  For more information call the Recreation Department at (815) 886-6222.

December 2008
Winter Wonderland
Come join the Recreation Department and Santa for Winter Wonderland on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Recreation Center, 900 W. Romeo Rd.  More information on this event will be available in the fall 2008 brochure.
 
Tree Lighting Ceremony
Following Winter Wonderland on Saturday, December 6th will be the annual Village Tree Lighting Ceremony at outside the Recreation Center.  Come for Winter Wonderland, stay for the Tree Lighting!  More information will be available closer to the event.
