Fall 2010

Dear Romeoville Residents,

RomeoFest 2010 was a huge success thanks to the volunteers and staff who gave their time to plan and run this event. Thousands of people enjoyed the live music, food, carnival rides, fireworks display and other attractions that were offered at this year's festival.

I would also like to thank the staff that planned and implemented the following summer events this year: the Downtown Car Show, Neighborhood Park Parties, Island Breeze, and Movie under the Stars. Many of our residents were able to enjoy these fun, family activities due in part to the staff's dedication to the community.

Some upcoming events to look forward to during the fall months include the Founder's Day Parade, Autumn Colors Craft Show, Halloween Fest, Veteran's Day Ceremony and Winter Wonderland with the Tree Lighting Festival. Please page through our brochure for further information regarding these events.

Please note the Recreation Center is now closed on all holidays with the exception of Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day and Veteran's Day. If you have any questions regarding the change in weekend and holiday hours, please feel free to call us at (815) 886-6222.

Mather Park Phase II construction that began last fall has been completed. Amenities to this phase of development include a Four Seasons Garden with an arbor and statue as well as additional trails.

Deer Crossing Park construction began in late summer of 2009 and opened this August. Deer Crossing Park is part of the new Village Hall Project and is located directly behind Village Hall to the north. The project was funded in part through a $400,000 OSLAD Grant from the state of Illinois. The park site includes a playground for all ages with poured-in-place surfacing, swings, a net climber, musical chimes, an amphitheater, trails with fitness stations and additional landscaping. Take the time to stop by and enjoy Romeoville's newest community park.

The Village of Romeoville is anxiously anticipating the development of Boucher Prairie Park
Phases II and III. Amenities for the final phases of this park project include an additional one-third mile loop to complete the half mile walking trail, a lighted shelter near the existing playground, a half court basketball court, a practice baseball field with a backstop, fitness stations, an inline hockey court, a splash pad with a cosmic theme, and a boardwalk and wetland overlook with interpretive signage and native plantings. Landscaping, berms, shade and ornamental plantings will be planted throughout the park site. The site will also include a 22-stall parking lot which is included in the Master Plan. This project is being funded in part by a $393,000 OSLAD Grant from the state of Illinois. Construction is anticipated to begin in late August.

Look for new and exciting programs being offered for the spring session including: Safe Sitter babysitting classes, Karate at Irene King, Adult Painting classes, teen After School Series Leagues, private gymnastics lessons, Lacrosse Camp, Shipshewana and Long Grove Apple Fest
trips, and much more!
