Village Board Approves 2017-18 Balanced Budget

At the April 19th meeting, the Village Board passed the 2017-18 Budget. The total budget is $109 million. Residents will be pleased to learn that there are no new fees or taxes and the tax rate has decreased once again. In fact, the estimated typical tax bill for homeowners is less than what it was in 2008. "We’re pleased to be putting forth a budget that allows Romeoville to continue to develop while lowering the tax rate and not adding any additional taxes," said Mayor John Noak.

Some of the capital projects in this year's budget include:

•Construction of a new Metra Station

•$3 million for street repairs/resurfacing

•Construction of Discovery Park

•Improvements at Malibu Bay Park and Hampton Park

•New Animal Control Center

•New Concession Stand and Restrooms at Deer Crossing Amphitheater

"This year’s projects will see Romeoville add an important transportation link to downtown Chicago, continue to upgrade our infrastructure, and to expand recreation amenities," said Mayor Noak. "We’ve been fortunate to receive grants for some of these projects, making it possible for us to invest the savings into other projects, in addition to keeping resident taxes low," he added.
