Spring Reminders

SpringReminders.jpg

The Village of Romeoville is dedicated to providing services and programs to make our community a safe and better place to live. As Spring approaches, we encourage our residents to take pride in our community and keep it beautiful. In order to sustain our goal, the following tips were compiled for residents.

Neighborhood Watch Program
When it comes to crime prevention, you and your neighbors know your area better than anyone does. Neighborhood Watch programs keep our communities safe and help you to know your neighbors better, while promoting a strong sense of community. Contact the Police Department if you would like to coordinate a Neighborhood Watch Program.

Anonymous Tip Line
The Romeoville Police Department’s Anonymous Tip Line is 815-886-8080 and is for residents who have information in regards to a crime. Do not use this phone number if you are requesting police assistance. Call 911 if you have an emergency or 815-886-7219 if your call is not an emergency.

Going on Vacation?
Plan ahead to keep your home and valuables safe while you are away. To deter burglars, create the impression that your house is occupied by:
    * Stopping your mail and newspapers or having a neighbor pick them up.
    * Leave inside lights on timers and set alarm systems.
*Have a lawn service or neighbor mow your lawn.
The Romeoville Police Dept. offers a vacation check service for residents where the home is checked up to 3 times per day. The form can be picked up at the Police Dept. or completed on our website by clicking here.

Graffiti
Help keep Romeoville beautiful and report any graffiti to the Police Department. Romeoville prides itself on maintaining an aesthetically pleasing community and your assistance is needed. If you are a victim of graffiti, the Romeoville Police Department will assist you in removal.

Spring Cleanup Week is May 22-26, 2017
This is a week to encourage Romeoville residents to tidy up their yards and homes with unlimited pick-up of large items. Garbage pick-up will be on your regular scheduled day. No tires, hazardous waste or construction materials will be accepted. Grass clippings must be in kraft-biodegradable bags or an approved container. Tree chipper service will be available with no appointment necessary.

Cooperative Community Gardens Program
Enjoy fresh vegetables but don’t have a place to plant them? The Cooperative Community Gardens Program is a joint effort between Romeoville Parks & Recreation Department and Lockport Township Park District to offer plots for residents to grow healthy fruits and vegetables. This program serves both communities at Sunset Park, 729 Murphy Drive, Romeoville. Residents can reserve a 10’ x 10’ plot for $20 and an additional $25 cash deposit. The growing season is from April 15 until October 28. For more information, call 815-886-6222.
