[ARCHIVED] Another Successful Meet for Romeoville Tumbleweeds Gymnastics

Congratulations to the Romeoville Tumbleweeds Gymnastics Team who competed in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Wisconsin Dells Vacation Classic hosted by 360sports on Saturday, January 28th. The competition was held at the Woodside Sports Dome in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The AAU portion of the meet was comprised of roughly 350 gymnasts on 18 teams. 13 gymnasts, ages 7-12, represented the Romeoville Tumbleweeds in the competition. The Level 2 Team took 4th place and the Level 3 Team took 8th place.  Romeoville Tumbleweeds also scored well individually with each gymnast taking home medals on at least 2 events.  

“This was a new type of competition that was out of our element. The gymnastsand coaches really embraced the opportunity and gave it their all. I am superproud of all their hard work and accomplishments this past weekend. I can’twait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us,” said MarissaCardoni, Program Supervisor.  The next meet will be February 11th and 12th atthe Itasca Park District.

The Romeoville Recreation Department’s gymnastics program is set-up to follow progressions starting with preschool aged children. The program has skills progression set in place to allow for proper advancement through all classes leading up to the competitive team. The competitive team tryouts are held once a year.
