Will County Clerk Lauren Staley Ferry is encouraging voters to take the following prevention steps when visiting their Polling Places to cast ballots on Election Day.
- BRING YOUR OWN BLACK PENS: Voters should feel free to bring their own black pens into the voting booths to darken the ovals on their ballots. Election Judges will periodically wipe down provided pens in each booth.
- SOCIAL DISTANCING: Maintain a respectful distance from fellow voters and Election Judges. CDC guidelines for social distancing encourage a six-foot distance if possible between individuals.
- AVOID UNNECESSARY CONTACT: Avoid unnecessary physical contact, including handshakes or hugs, even with people you know.
- RESPECTING CONCERNS: Please respect the concerns of others, including our Election Judges, if they maintain a physical distance, politely request that you step back, or if they are wearing protective gloves or masks.
- FREQUENT WASHING: Wash your hands or use a hand sanitizer before and after you visit your Polling Place. Election Judges will periodically wipe frequently touched surfaces with disinfectant wipes. However, the CDC still recommends frequent hand washing.
- NO WILL COUNTY CASES: It is important to note that as of this writing, there are no confirmed cases in Will County.
Voting is possibly our most important right. And the State of Illinois has made the difficult decision to move forward with our Primary Election on Tuesday. By taking these precautions on Election Day, we will be doing our part to keep everyone as safe as possible.
