[ARCHIVED] Romeoville Recreation Offers Programs from Unicorn Parties to Nerf Wars

Summer Brochure Newsflash

Summer will be here before you know it and that means program registration is coming up. Every resident in Romeoville should have received a program brochure in the mail with the various program offerings. The 60+ page brochure is divided into 25 categories like Day Camps, Karate, Gymnastics, Youth Athletics, Young Adults, Adults & Trips, and Fitness.

Some activities that are sure to be big draws are the Parents vs. Teen Nerf League (pg. 57 in the program brochure), where whole families can engage in all out Nerf war, and the LEGO Engineering & LEGO Robotics Academy (pg. 40), where kids will explore STEM topics through LEGOs. Some art based programs like Summer Unicorn Party (making unicorn slime and picture frames, pg. 38) and Art Attack (exploring different art mediums, pg. 39) are sure to spark creativity, while various levels of Spanish classes (pg. 40) will drive lifelong learning. This summer brings new Taekwondo classes (pg. 46) and some new adults trips, including a tour of the Fox Valley Winery (pg. 59).

“Our Parks and Recreation Department does a phenomenal job with their programs,” said Mayor John Noak. “I think you would be hard pressed to find someone who isn’t interested in something they offer.”

Romeoville Residents will get the first opportunity to sign up for all the programs detailed in the brochure when registration opens on Monday, May 13.
