The Romeoville Village Board approved the 2019-2020 village budget at the April 17th Board Meeting. The total budget for the next fiscal year (May 1 – April 30) will be $129 million. This year’s budget provides a strong financial base with over $34 million in capital projects. The village continues to focus on no new fees or taxes, infrastructure improvements, public safety, and more park and recreation facilities. Some of the larger projects to be completed this year include:
• $15 million in water and sewer projects • $3.6 million in street resurfacing • Pedestrian crossing at Route 53 and Normantown Road• Redevelopment of Conservation Park• Continuation of the decorative lighting project• Playground at Discovery Park• Police and K-9 Memorial• More multi-use paths
o Along the ComEd easement west of Weber Road from just north of Taylor Rd to Airport Rd, including the ComEd easement west to I55
o Along the pipeline easement from Normantown Road to Taylor Road
• Additional police and fire personnel• New Public Works facility• Continuation of Water rebate
“The village continues to provide top notch services while reducing the tax rate,” pointed out Mayor Noak. This is the 4th year in a row that the Village has reduced its property tax rate.
