This story is based on the extraordinary life of Erdrich’s grandfather, who worked as a night watchman and carried the fight against Native dispossession from rural North Dakota all the way to Washington, D.C.   1. Bunny Bash: Hop N' Go Edition

    Join us for an interactive photo experience with Peter Rabbit and his sister, Cottontail! This socially-distanced event offers a life-size board game experience, a picture frame craft to-go, and ends with a picture with the bunny himself! Registration is required for each child. Families will be placed into thirty-minute timeslots (each timeslot will include multiple families). Preferred timeslots taken into consideration. Please note that no more than two adults per family will be allowed into the event.

  2. O'Hara Woods Volunteer Workday

    Come join The Conservation Foundation and the Friends of O’Hara Woods improve the ecological health of O’Hara Woods at our monthly volunteer workday. Activities include cutting invasive brush, burning brush piles, pulling garlic mustard, and collecting seed from native plants. No prior experience is necessary. The address to O’Hara Woods is 524 Belmont Dr., Romeoville, and we will be meeting in the parking lot off of Beverly J. Griffin Dr. (to the southwest of Lake Strini). If you plan to attend, please bring a water bottle, a pair of work gloves (we will have extra), and dress for the weather. Loppers and all other equipment will be provided. *We will be following Phase 4 guildelines per Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and participants should practice social distancing.
