  1. Isle a la Cache Museum presents Traders Cabin Open House

    April 27, 2021, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Isle a la Cache Museum

    Please note: Masks are required for all in-person, indoor and outdoor program participants, with the exception of those younger than 2 years old and those with a medical condition or disability that prevents them from wearing one, per state guidelines. Step inside our 18th-century Fur Traders Cabin that complements the exhibits at Isle a la Cache Museum. See the many goods that French fur traders brought from New France. Learn about the furs and other items used as money during trades. A naturalist will be available to answer questions. This is a drop-in program; come anytime between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. No registration is required for this program.

  1. Mom & Son Night Out: Challenge Accepted

    Calling all moms and sons! Join us on Friday, April 23rd, for our annual Mom & Son Night Out. This year's event features entertainment by Traveling World of Reptiles. Experience a 30-minute show where you will get to see a 15 foot python, 50 lb. tortoise, 4 foot iguana and more! You might even get the chance to pet some of these wild creatures! Following the show we will have a photo op and you will take home a bag of activities to compete with each other at home. Will you accept the challenge? All boys, ages 5-13, and their moms or favorite female role model are invited! When registering, register the mom and son couple under the son's name and any additional sons under the additional child code for the same timeslot/

  2. O'Hara Woods Volunteer Workday

    Come join The Conservation Foundation and the Friends of O’Hara Woods improve the ecological health of O’Hara Woods at our monthly volunteer workday. Activities include cutting invasive brush, burning brush piles, pulling garlic mustard, and collecting seed from native plants. No prior experience is necessary. The address to O’Hara Woods is 524 Belmont Dr., Romeoville, and we will be meeting in the parking lot off of Beverly J. Griffin Dr. (to the southwest of Lake Strini). If you plan to attend, please bring a water bottle, a pair of work gloves (we will have extra), and dress for the weather. Loppers and all other equipment will be provided. *We will be following Phase 4 guildelines per Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and participants should practice social distancing.
